Chris Swinburne

Chris is a highly skilled and knowledgeable Vestibular Physiotherapist. He is experienced in rehabilitation for the following conditions/symptoms:

  • Inner-ear surgery

  • Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV),

  • Vestibular Migraine,

  • Age-related balance decline,

  • Labyrinthitis

  • Vestibular Neuritis/Neuronitis,

  • Cervicogenic Dizziness,

  • Post-Concussion Syndrome,

  • vertigo, dizziness, imbalance and motion sickness

  • Dizziness, vertigo and poor balance related to Neurological conditions such as Stroke, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s Disease.

Chris has completed advanced training in Vestibular rehabilitation, including courses led by some of the top experts in the field, and regularly attends conferences and training in this field.

Chris will work with you and your doctor/specialist to help you get back to doing the activities that you love, as quickly and safely as possible. And if Chris and the Bespoke team isn't able to help you, he will happily find the right health professional for you.

Eyal Bernard

Senior Neurological Physiotherapist, Senior Bobath Practitioner & Vestibular Rehabilitation

Eyal Bernard is the Director and Senior Practitioner at Bespoke Physiotherapy.  He is extremely experienced in the area of Neurosurgery and Neurology.  Eyal has particular expertise in treating clients before and after Back, Neck & Brain Surgery, Vestibular Rehabilitation, MS, Stroke and Parkinson's Disease as well as Acute and Chronic Neck and Back Pain. 

Prior to opening Bespoke Physiotherapy Eyal was the Allied Health Manager and Senior Neurological Physiotherapist at Melbourne Private Hospital, where he worked alongside many of Australia's leading Neurosurgeons and Neurologist.  He continues to work with many of these specialist, treating and assisting in the Rehabilitation of their patients.

Eyal graduated from the University of Melbourne and found his passion for Neurology while working for the West Wimmera Health Services. Since then he has been inspired and committed to Neurological Rehabilitation, helping his clients reach their goals and maximise their rehabilitation potential. 

He is a member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA) and the APA Neurology Group and has completed extensive postgraduate training in the Bobath Concept, an approach to neurological rehabilitation that is applied in patient assessment and treatment.

Isobel Washington

Senior Neurological Physiotherapist/Bobath Practitioner/Dance Teacher

Isobel is a passionate physiotherapist with extensive experience in stroke rehab, as well as working with clients with Parkinson’s disease, Multiple Sclerosis and other neurological disorders. She completed her Physiotherapy degree at LaTrobe University in 2008 after a Bachelor of Science (Psychology/Anatomy) at the University of Melbourne.
Isobel is a long-term member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA) and the APA Neurology Group and has completed extensive postgraduate training in the Bobath Concept, including several advanced courses. She has a passion for drawing on movement therapies such as therapeutic yoga, Pilates and dance in her rehabilitation alongside other modalities.

Outside her physiotherapy work, Isobel is an accomplished dancer and dance teacher and has an enthusiasm for bringing this joy of movement to all people, particularly those with neurological conditions. She has a strong passion for empowering clients to reach their full potential and goals, and to function better in their lives no matter what the diagnosis.

Zoe Macourt

Physiotherapist & Clinical Pilates

Zoe completed her Master of Physiotherapy at Swinburne University of Technology after a Bachelor of Biomedical Science at UQ in Queensland.

She has a background in management of musculoskeletal injuries and strength and conditioning.  She has a keen interest in clinical pilates, personally practicing reformer pilates since her teen years.

Zoe loves working with patients to improve mobility and pain through the neck, shoulders and upper back. She has worked closely with patients to manage ergonomics in the workplace (or at home workplace).

Zoe has a keen interest in Neurological physiotherapy and enjoys working with her clients using a combination of exercise and hands on treatment methods.

Outside of work Zoe likes exploring the inner north area and is excited to be getting back into some aerial silk training.

 Zoe is a member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA). She has completed a course in MAT evaluation (seating assessment) as well as Bobath - What is Normal Movement Course and the Urban Poling and Activator course for Health Professionals.

Joi Fukuyama

Physiotherapist & Clinical Pilates

Joi is a physiotherapist who is passionate about individualised and tailored treatment for his clients. Joi did his physiology and anatomy studies at the University of Melbourne and his Masters of Physiotherapy at the University of Sydney. During his time living in NSW, he had the opportunity to gain work experience at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Fairfield Hospital, and Royal North Shore Hospital. 

After graduating, Joi returned to Melbourne to work in private practice while learning about Clinical Pilates and utilising it to treat chronic pain and various musculoskeletal conditions. Joi has helped in improving the lives of clients, many who have had long term pain and problems of especially the neck and back. Joi has always had an interest in neurological conditions and has come to Bespoke to further learn about neurological physiotherapy. 

Joi is a member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA) and has two certifications in Clinical Pilates Movement Based Classification & Treatment (MBCT). Joi prioritises having treatment be specific to each of his clients to ensure that all of their needs are met. He loves working alongside his clients in building up their confidence and achieving their goals.

Outside of work, Joi loves running, bouldering, and playing music. During summer, he enjoys snorkeling in the ocean and during winter, he loves to return to his home country Japan for skiing and snowboarding.

Jane Costello

Senior Neurological Physiotherapist

Jane Costello’s methods personify the bespoke treatment philosophy of this practice, through a passionate attention to detail in addressing the specific needs of each individual client to maximise their rehabilitation potential.  Jane has extensive experience in the area of neurological rehabilitation as both a Physiotherapist and rehabilitation Pilates instructor.

Throughout her professional career, Jane has been inspired to help neurological rehabilitation clients return to their highest level of ability, regardless of their starting level. This includes balance work and a range of recreational and sporting pursuits (modified or otherwise) such as running, cycling, swimming, hiking, and skiing. She is dedicated to helping empower all she works with to return to a feeling of joy in movement and a sense of overall wellness. Jane has found that the combination of Physiotherapy and rehabilitation Pilates can be particularly effective in many patients in achieving these goals.

Jane completed her Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Honours) in 2000 at the University of Melbourne and since then as a Physiotherapist has been dedicated to neurological rehabilitation both in Australia and the UK. She has also worked as a Clinical Pilates instructor at many studios in Melbourne, the UK, and in Vancouver, Canada.

Jane started personal Pilates practice in 1998 to manage her own neck pain with such amazing results that she commenced her training in Pilates instruction. She continued her Pilates throughout two pregnancies, and her speedy return to activities such as running, cycling, and skiing, is testament to the benefits of and her commitment to Pilates.

Jane achieved Level 1 Instructor accreditation with the Australian Pilates Method Association in 2003. Since then she has upgraded her Pilates qualifications with a Certificate IV in Pilates Instruction (2008) and a Diploma of Professional Pilates Instruction (2011) with Pilates International. She has also completed Therapeutic Muscle Stretching on the Pilates Reformer in 2011. In 2015 completed her teacher training enabelling her present for the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute (APPI). She is now a lead presenter of the APPI Equipment series in Melbourne, enthusiastically teaching other health professionals to become high quality Pilates instructors.

Jane is a member and registered instructor of Pilates Alliance Australasia (PAA) and a member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association (Neurology group). She is the co-creator and presenter of the physiotherapy course “An Introduction to Pilates for Neurological Clients” run for the Australian Physiotherapy Association since 2009. Jane also volunteers for Disabled Winter sports (DWA) as a qualified adaptive snow sports guide.

Rehabilitation is ultimately about returning to joy in life and Jane works with all her clients to facilitate the steps to reach their goals.

Diana Myres

Senior Neurological Physiotherapist/Bobath Practitioner

Diana is an experienced Physiotherapist who comes to Bespoke with over 10 years experience working in large metropolitan public health services. Diana graduated with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy from the University of Notre Dame in Fremantle, Western Australia in 2009 before moving to Melbourne, where she has dedicated her career to working with clients with a diverse range of neurological conditions in predominantly outpatient rehabilitation settings. Coming from a strong sporting background growing up in rural WA, her passion for neurological rehabilitation was inspired by experience as a support worker for older people and young people with disabilities.

Diana has extensive experience in stroke rehabilitation, in addition to working with clients with varied diagnoses including Parkinson’s Disease, Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and Functional Neurological Disorder (FND). She also has a special interest in dizziness and vestibular rehabilitation. Diana is skilled at working with clients with complex needs and those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. She is passionate about supporting clients to identify and achieve goals that are meaningful to them and improve their quality of life.

Diana has completed extensive post-graduate study in neurological rehabilitation, including a Graduate Certificate in Clinical Rehabilitation (Neurology) from Flinders University and post-graduate training in the Bobath Concept.

Thao Nguyen

Senior Neurological Physiotherapist/Bobath Practitioner

Thao Nguyen has extensive experience with the stroke, neurology, vestibular and neurosurgery populations. He graduated from La Trobe University in 2004 and spent some time in the UK, working in some of the leading hospitals managing neurological conditions. Thao has completed extensive postgraduate training in the Bobath Concept, an approach to neurological rehabilitation that is applied in patient assessment and treatment, and takes a holistic approach in designing interventions that maximises his patients’ outcomes and experiences.

Thao currently works at Bespoke on a fortnightly basis when he is not working his role as Clinical Educator at The Royal Melbourne Hospital
